The Kyle Brake Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2008 in memory of Kyle Brake. His love of sports is our inspiration for establishing this scholarship program. The purpose of this scholarship fund is to help ease the financial burden associated with participating in organized sports.
Funds are available to assist children ages Kindergarten through 8th grade, who receive free or reduced lunches through Jefferson County School District, reside in Wheat Ridge or surrounding cities, and participate in Wheat Ridge sports. Funds are available to pay registration fees, uniforms, and/or equipment costs for children participating in organized sports. Funds are available to club sport participants, as well.
Since inception, we have awarded over to over $86,032 in scholarships and have provided an opportunity for over 723 children in our community to participate in sports such as soccer, swimming, football, baseball, dance, cheer leading, basketball, rugby and karate.
In 2015 an additional scholarship was established to celebrate the education of Wheat Ridge High School students who have participated in athletics or supported athletics in some capacity and are planning to further their education, but not necessarily as a college athlete. Since 2015, we have awarded $18,000 in scholarships to 12 Wheat Ridge High School graduates who continued their education.
This scholarship program is administered by dedicated community volunteers. We appreciate the continued support of our volunteers and community members.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
